આ નવલકથા 'જોગ-સંજગો' નામ પાડીને 'ચિત્રલેખા' માં ક્રમશ લખવી ચાલુ કરી ત્યારે કલ્પના નહોતી કે બેચાર ચમત્કારિક સંજોગો સર્જાઈ જશે. સૌરાષ્ટ્રના એક નાનકડા ગામના સાઠ વર્ષ ના બુઝર્ગ વાચકનો પત્ર આવ્યો : 'તમરી જોગ-સંજોગ' વરતા જેવો જ કિસ્સો વર્ષો પહેલા અમારા ગમમાં બન્યો હતો. એક શ્રીમત કુટુંબનો પુત્ર ઘર છોડીને ચાલી ગયેલો તે અચાનક કોઈ ફકીર મારફત પાછો આવ્યો ત્યારે તમારી વાર્તાના અજયની જેમ તેની પરીક્ષા કરવામાં આવેલી. ડોકટરે લોહીની ચકાસણી કરીને ચુકાદો આપ્યો કે ઘર છોડીને ચાલ્યો ગયેલો જ પુત્ર પાછો આવ્યો છે !' મારી અગાઉની વાર્તાઓની જેમ 'ચિત્રલેખા' ના વાચકો ખુબ રસપૂર્વક 'જોગ-સંજોગ' સાથે માયા બાંધી પત્રો દ્વારા પ્રોત્સહાન આપતા રહ્યા હતા અને દસ વર્ષના ગાળામાં પુસ્તક સ્વરૂપે તેની આવૃત્તિ થાય એ પણ વાચકોના ઉમળકાભાર્યા અવકારનો જ પ્રતાપ ગણાય.
